Frequently Asked
Common questions
Do I need a referral?
Most patients are referred by a GP or another health practitioner. A referral is also required for Medicare rebates to apply.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Your referral letter, any relevant imaging, a list of current medications, and reports from previous relevant surgery.
Do I need X-rays or scans before my appointment?
Imaging is often useful but not always required beforehand — this can be discussed with your referring practitioner or the practice.
How long does an appointment take?
Initial consultations generally allow enough time for a thorough history, examination and discussion of findings.
What happens if surgery is recommended?
Surgical and non-surgical options are discussed together, along with expected recovery, so that any decision to proceed is informed.
Will I need physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a common part of recovery, particularly after surgery, and is arranged as part of your treatment plan.
Where does David Morris consult?
Consulting locations are listed on the Locations page, including address and contact details for each site.
What should I do if my condition is urgent?
For urgent or emergency concerns, call 000 or attend your nearest emergency department. For time-sensitive but non-emergency referrals, see the Referrers page.
